People say, “There is no such thing as a free lunch.” What that means for designers is that every design element has a price. If a product needs more features, the final product will cost more to manufacture. Sometimes one feature is not only more necessary than another but also comes at the price of forsaking another. For instance, when typing, speed sometimes comes at the cost of accuracy or vice versa. When creating paper things to travel a certain distance with a certain amount of accuracy, distance often comes at the price of accuracy. Conversely, accuracy comes at the price of distance. The students were to create paper “flyers” that would travel at least 30 feet and no more than 3 feet from the centerline.
