Student projects are an important part of engineering design. Advanced students design their projects primarily with Rhinoceros® although some choose to pursue architecture and use Architectural Desktop®. The students are given projects to help them learn the particular programs and to help them to learn design techniques. The software skills that they learn secondary to the design skills that are sought. Students must design to particular design requirements, appeal to a target market, and go through a documented design process. Ideally, students will use their creativity and the software at their disposal to come up with innovative ideas on the particular models they create.
